SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

In its simplest form, SEO means using certain words and phrases to improve the quality and quantity of traffic directed to a specific place on the internet. The higher a site ranks with a search engine, the more likely it is a person will visit the site.
You ideally want to have your site appear on the first page of a search because research has shown that people will usually only look on that first page to find out the information they are searching for. Rarely will they continue on to subsequent pages unless they are searching for very specific information.
With content writing, you have to have several repetitions of your keywords or key phrases so the search engine “spiders” that crawl web pages will recognize your site first and place it high on the search page.
When you are hired by a publisher to do a job, they will likely give you a list of keywords and phrases to use in your writing, so you won’t have to come up with them on your own. Consider this a blessing because choosing the right keywords can be quite complicated.
There are a few rules for writing for SEO:
* Always use your keywords in your title.
* The first sentence of your project should contain at least one mention of your keyword.
* Repeat the keywords in the body of the text between 10 and 15 times – more if you can.
* Make sure that the reader doesn’t know you are writing for SEO. They should flow with the writing.
* If you have headings in your piece, use the keywords in the heading.
Writing for SEO is not difficult, but it is very important for the person you are writing for. They want to appear high in the natural search engine results, so be sure to use your keywords and phrases liberally throughout your writing.
By far, the most commonly outsourced writing jobs are for articles on various topics to be used in various situations. That’s the first area we will cover: how to write articles for content.

Writing Articles

I have written literally thousands of articles for the internet and let me tell you, we have a lot to cover in these next few sections! But we won’t get overwhelmed, will we? We’ll take it step by step and get through it together.
Let’s start with one simple concept: you don’t have to be a great writer to write a great article. It’s true. Writing a good, even great article is actually quite simple, and I’m going to show you exactly how!
There are some basic components that all articles should contain:
1. Headline – This is what will get the reader to want to click on your article and read it so it has to be compelling
2. Introduction – tell the audience what you are going to write about
3. Body – tell them
4. Conclusion – tell them what you told them
It really is that simple. Of course, there are some secrets we have to share that will make your articles a little bit easier to read and write, but the formula given above is one to stick to. Ideally, an article will run between 300 and 500 words.
Keep in mind that research has shown that shorter articles get a better click-through rate than longer ones. Your article should definitely never be longer than 500 words, but strive for about 300 to 500 words. People just don’t have as much patience as we think they do! If you go longer than that, you will lose your reader’s attention.
A good article should contain subheads. People like to skim articles to find the information that they want. Subheads can separate your article into different sections and make the reading easier for your visitor.
Your article should also have bullets. Again, this makes your article easier to read and easier to skim. Bullets highlight specific points that you want your reader to see above anything else.
Before we go into more detail about how to write articles, let’s do a little exercise in planning. When you plan out your article, it is much easier to write.
One of the first things you need to do once you know your topic is to do your research. You are probably not going to know everything you need to know about all the products you want to promote, so research is very important.
We’ll cover research more in-depth in a separate chapter. However, know that when you have done some good research, you are going to have a good article and it will be much easier to write!
Now let’s get back to the components of a good article. The articles you write will be used for a variety of different reasons, but the person you are writing for will definitely want their article to be read. If you want to write a good article that people will read, here are some guidelines to follow for each section.
